Dead branches in trees are unpredictable and can break and fall at any time. Dead wood is often dry and brittle and cannot bend in the wind like a living tree or branch. A dead branch that is already broken off and hanging is especially dangerous.

It most places open to the public it is good practice to remove dead branches in trees to prevent accidents and claims. When ever possible and in suitable locations like woodlands, dead branches should be left as they become great habitats and benefit the environment.
